El Shield Reproductor MP3 de Sparkfun es un decodificador de MP3 con la capacidad de almacenar archivos de música en una tarjeta microSD corriente, lo que le brinda la posibilidad de agregar música o efectos de sonido a cualquier proyecto. El Shield MP3 utiliza el decodificador de audio MP3 VS1053B para decodificar archivos de audio. El VS1053 también es capaz de decodificar audio Ogg Vorbis/MP3/AAC/WMA/MIDI y codificar IMA ADPCM y Ogg Vorbis cargable por el usuario.
El VS1053 recibe su flujo de bits de entrada a través de un bus de entrada serial (SPI). Una vez que el IC ha decodificado la transmisión, el audio se envía a un conector para auriculares estéreo de 3,5 mm, así como a un conector de paso de 2 pines de 0,1 pulgadas.

Shield is good, documentation link needs to be updated
I got this for sound for a robot project. I had a frustrating experience trying to use the example in the documentation link. The libraries used by the examples have changed and are no longer compatible. Robot Shop: please update the link. Once I found the updated Sparkfun documentation at https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/mp3-player-shield-hookup-guide-v15?_ga=2.91878362.1511680999.1640800548-620763291.1637437471 and libraries and example code at https://github.com/madsci1016/Sparkfun-MP3-Player-Shield-Arduino-Library, I was able to get it to work, and it does work well. I was using external speakers (a small "sound bar" for a laptop), so I needed to unsolder and re-solder the jumpers SJ3, SJ4 and SJ5 to avoid a nasty buzzing. After that, the sound was good. One problem I had was when I hooked up a button to pin 10 (which should be free), the arduino would hang when pin 10 was connected to ground. I don't know what that was about, but ended up using one for the A pins (digital pin 15) instead and it solved my problem. Comment RobotShop: Thank you, Ian. Nifty sound output shield.
Audio quality was absolutely excellent with more than enough control over sound characteristics for my needs. Only small disappointment is the lack of mounting holes, otherwise 5/5. Great service from Robotshop as well.

If you are not satisfied for whatever reason with a Product you bought on the Site, it is possible to return it for refund within 30 days from the date you received it unless otherwise indicated in the Product listing. You must first advise the Vendor associated with your order in your account to obtain a return authorization (‘’RA’’) number before returning a Product. (‘’RA’’) numbers are valid for 30 days, within which time the returned Products should be received by the Vendor. No returns will be accepted without having previously obtained an (‘’RA’’) number. Build-it-yourself Robot Parts are not refundable once assembled. Robots & Kits requiring assembly or soldering are also not refundable once assembled, soldered or modified in any way. All sales of robotic software and apps are final and cannot be refunded or exchanged. Returns are not accepted on special orders and clearance items except when they are found defective, in which case the Product may be repaired or replaced at the Vendor’s discretion. 20% Restocking fees may apply if you are returning a large quantity of the same Product that was ordered specifically for you from the manufacturer.
Please note that all items will be reimbursed within 7 to 14 days of receiving the Product (shipping fees excluded). You must also cover the cost of returning the Product. Shipping fees will only be refunded if the return is a result of a shipping error on our part. Cleaning fees of USD 100 may also be charged if a domestic robot is returned and has not been properly cleaned.
