Description
Nominal Voltage: 12V
No Load RPM: 146
Stall Current: 3.6A
Stall Torque: 556 oz-in
Shaft Diameter: 6 mm
Hall Effect Encoder Included
The 12V DC Motor 146RPM w/Encoder is one of our favorite DFRobot customized high quality DC motor. It is a low noise motor and high torque output motor with hall encoder built-in. The hall encoder gives 663 pulses per rotation which is able to sense 0.54 degree rotation from the shaft. This resolution meets a general PID speed control requirements thus making it a great choice for robotics.
The sturdy metal casing and gears gives you a chance at a competition robot or harsh environments where your robot might get hit from objects or people. This motor is widely used in mobile robot area and some stationary automation devices. The hall encoder is cased on a plastic top easily accessible, and with the included cable you can easily get it connected to your device. Check out our encoder adapter.
I recommend this engine with your eyes closed. odometry very good and the mechanics seems very robust.

Good motor but several pieces defect
We have bought 8 motors in the last 1.5 year and 3 of them died...

actually the oposite of silent motor
The gearbox is extremly noisy! because of the low precision gears inside! I love the form factor though. I bought it BECAUSE it mention silent/low noise!! I am perhaps too late to return it.

Great motor!
Exactly what I needed to drive a camera slider kit without too much noise and hassle. It works great and is very easy to program with the integrated encoder. Cable and board included are some nice props. Overall very satisfied with the purchase!

Louder than a gear motor is was replacing
Labelling this motor as silent is a joke, a colleague several meters away even asked what the noise was over the office radio! In fairness, if you disassemble it and take the rattling, churning, thumping geared section off the front the motor is actually quiet at low speeds but you've then lost the 6mm spindle and left with a motor that's worth a fraction of the price.
