Does What My Windows Laptop Couldn't !

I bought this to communicate with a DfRobot Bluno Nano, which it does brilliantly. My gripe is not with this product, but as to why I couldn't use my new windows laptop to talk to the Bluno out of the box. If iPhone and Android phones can connect, why not windows and windows phone ?
